Killer Whale vs. Great White Shark (Video)

February 16, 2010

killer-whale-breach A group of unsuspecting whale watchers near Southeast Farallon Island, about 27 miles off the coast of San Francisco, witnessed something extraordinary while observing a pod of Orca or killer whales. The pod was fresh off of a hunt that resulted in a sea lion kill. It was shortly after that the whale watchers noticed something large swimming near their boat. One of the guides on the boat quickly recognized the shape and identified it as a great white shark. Most likely attracted by the blood, the shark started moving toward the pod of killer whales. That’s when the whale watchers noticed that one of the killer whales broke from the pod to confront the threat.

National Geographic Channel made a show about this event and put together the live video that was taken that day. Read on to check it out…
