Top 20 Shows From The 80′s
February 23, 2010
So we are jumping on the band wagon and doing a ‘Top List’ type post. Growing up in the 80′s has suddenly become popular for some reason, maybe because more and more thirtysomethings are surfing the net or maybe because some of the ridiculous fashions we had are coming back. Regardless of the reason, the popularity of the 80s inspired me to write a post about my favorite shows growing up. Just be warned this is a totally subjective list of the primetime 80s shows that I thought were the best, so feel free to add your two cents about your favs…
20. The Fall Guy – You can’t go wrong with Heather Locklear and crazy stunts performed by the six million dollar man, Lee Majors, even if he had his own stunt man.

19. Night Court – This show introduced Harry Anderson and John Larroquette to a wide audience back in the mid 80s. This show had a great mix of writing and talent.

18. Diff’rent Strokes – ‘Whatcoo talkin bout Willis?’ Need I say more, this show was a classic.

17. The Facts of Life – Who didn’t want to know what went on inside an all girls boarding school?

16. Dallas – With 357 episodes, this was one of the longest running prime time dramas in the history of television. It’s “Who Shot JR” episode still ranks as one of the most watched episodes of television in history.

15. Full House – This had a great cast and some good messages in the episodes.

14. Cheers – I know I might get dinged for the placement of this one but I really didn’t appreciate this show as much as a kid as I do as an adult. I do enjoy the show and watch reruns occasionally but as far as when I was growing up, this is about where Cheers falls on my list.

13. Family Ties – This show was a career launcher for Michael J. Fox and his character made the show IMO. In all fairness, the whole cast was well put together but there is no doubt that Fox was the stand out here.

12. Bosom Buddies – Another career launcher, this time for a budding actor named Tom Hanks. As a kid I thought this show was hilarious.

11. The Greatest American Hero – The premise of this show was great, a man is given a suit that gives him super powers but he isn’t given any instructions on how the suit works. Classic. Plus the show had a great theme song.
