If you missed this past Saturday’s episode of Saturday Night Live, the opening skit was a hilarious parody of Barack Obama making a campaign stop for Senator Harry Reid in Nevada. In the video Reid attempts to put some "distance" between himself and president Obama, meanwhile Obama tells Reid "I got your back". I have to say that SNL definitely nailed this one. HBO and Russell Simmons have a new show that premiers this weekend (10/23/2010) titled Brave New Voices. The show captures the raw talent and excitement of young poets from across the country competing in the 2010 National Slam Team Championship. As a fan of his former show, Def Poetry, I can’t wait to see this. There’s something so raw and untapped about this new style of poetry that is reminiscent of hip hop in it’s beginning. On Wednesday night (9/29) Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake took Fallon’s audience on a journey through the last 30 years or so of rap, all while being backed up by hip hop’s greatest live band The Roots. The two of them work well together, I loved them as the Gibbs brothers on SNL awhile back. It’s great entertainment, especially seeing Jimmy Fallon do the Soulja Boy, that was classic.
